Zimmerman MS Bike Ride, 150 miles closer to the cure

The group I ride with, Team Storm Riders, does the Bike MS ride every year.  It’s the South Florida ride, Miami to The Keys.  In the time they have been doing the ride as a team, they have raised over half a million dollars for the National MS Society.  The ride is a 150 mile ride over two days.  Each day you ride 75 miles then camp for the night and ride 75 miles back.  Riders can do shorter distances or even just a single day ride.  This year’s ride is coming on in May and I wasn’t sure whether I’d register or not.

First, riding 75 miles, let alone two days in a row, scares the heck out of me.  Then there’s the fundraising issue. To ride, you must raise a minimum of $400 and I suck at fundraising.  I attempted to raise funds for a Komen 3 Day Walk for the Cure a few years ago and failed to meet the minimum (it was $2500).  However, what I did raise was still donated so it was all good. In a moment of temporary insanity, and I seem to have a lot of those, I actually registered for the Zimmerman MS Bike Ride for this year.  I did it last month and I hadn’t made any efforts to raise the funds because I have enough time.  Then I told a few running friends and, much to my surprise, some of them have made donations and I’m almost half way to raising the $400.

So, if you have a little spare cash,  please, make a donation and support me and the National MS Society.  All donations, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and not just by me.  I’m actually looking forward to the ride and I’m certain it will be an experience I will never forget.  Now I have to start toughening up my hiney for that long ride!
