I did not fall off the face of the earth! I’m here!
The fall spring semester is over and the Summer A session is almost over too. I did GREAT in the spring, all As and made the Dean’s List. That’s what I’m talking about. I’m taking two classes over Summer A, “Queens and Empresses of Early Modern Europe” and “The History of Ideas” and so far they are both going well. I will be taking two more classes over Summer B. Summer A and Summer B are 6 weeks each so it’s really intense, I barely have time to do anything else. If all goes well, I hope to graduate next summer…..then on to grad school.
As for running and cycling, short story: since the Egg Hunt Duathlon, I’ve not very much when it comes to races (heck, even when it comes to just running!). The MS 150 ride went well, except I got really bad chemical burns on my thighs from who knows what. All is well now but it was ugly, as you can see….
Here are some more pictures from that weekend:
After conquering Card Sound Bridge going into Key Largo
What said bridge looked like from the top
After 75 miles, I was dead. So dead in fact that I seriously considered not riding the next day and just getting a ride home. I felt physically ill and my thighs were killing me. I am glad I actually gave the second day a chance though because after 3 or 4 miles on the bike I was golden.
Morning of the second day. I looked like hell and felt even worse.
At the lunch rest stop. Love the portapotties in the back. I’ve become very well acquainted with them since I took up racing. I can tell you all about the different models and brands!
Finally home
I also ran a 5k on Sunday and it was horrible. Without a doubt, one of the worst races I’ve ever done. It was called “Twilight 5k” but let me tell you, twilight it was not. The races started at 7pm on one of the hottest days we’ve had lately. The sun was still shining bright and strong. I felt good for the first 3/4 of a mile or so and then it just hit me like a ton of bricks. It was miserable and I ended up walking a lot of the course, finishing in an embarrassing 33:47. I knew it would not be a personal best race but I didn’t think it would suck so much. Serves me right for registering for evening races.
As if that wasn’t insane enough…..I’ve done it. I registered for FOUR duathlons over the summer. What was I thinking???? It’s the Mack Cycle Trilogy series which is actually 4 race including the bonus round. The first race is on the 19th of this month and then it’s one every month until September. Get the straight jacket now.
I’m going to end the post on a similarly deranged way… here you go…sexy!
(Speaking of deranged; I seem to have inspired
someone. Go figure!)
